I've come to the shooting sports much later than most. My exposure to target shooting with bolt action 22LR firearms in my early teen years gave way to life in NYC where exposure to the shooting sports is about as likely as exposure to common sense inside the Beltway. Last year I satisfied a long held desire to get back into the shooting sports and purchased an AR-15. After taking the NRA's Basic Rifle Shooting course, I spent a lot of time at the range and a lot of time watching training videos. After putting about 1500 rounds through the AR-15 I felt it was time for the next level of training and shooting. And that's precisely what I received from the Aim Small Firearms Instruction Tactical Rifle Training course. Over the course of a day I was able to confirm my basic firearms safety knowledge, address the deficiencies in my marksmanship and safely engage in the tactical operation of my carbine. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but were able to convey their knowledge to me, and a wide variety of other students, simply, easily and directly. Had they not explained that they were all current or recent law enforcement professionals I would have assumed that they were all professional trainers. I look forward to additional opportunities to train with them.

I just wanted to let you know that I had a terrific time at today's shotgun class. As someone who had never before picked up a gun, I was a bit nervous about how it would go. Well, it was really great. You know your stuff, and I appreciated that Sgt. Steve took some extra time with me to show me the ropes ... guess we southpaws have to stick together. Anyway, I hope I showed a little innate talent in shooting ... it was a lot of information to process at one time, and I intend to retain as much as I can. I may just take the course again to pick up some more pointers that I may have missed the first time around. Also, I plan to take your rifle courses as well as your pistol courses, once I get my pistol permit.
It is very difficult to find excellent instructors in virtually any area, but you and your team are tops in my book. I just wanted to thank you for making the class such a first rate experience. It was awesome, and I look forward to continuing my training with you. Thanks again.
I just wanted to thank you once again for teaching us the first half of the course. We drove home having one of the best days together - definitely something to go on the all time memory list. You are an excellent teacher - you make it fun, have a good way of getting across the serious and important issues without needing to go overboard. You make young shooters feel comfortable so they can learn. And cover the key things in a 'learn by doing mode' - very important. I am very grateful that we drove the distance. We cant wait to see you on Saturday.

PS Most of all - it seems to me that my boys are learning from a great dad who understands.
